Perception of countries and organizations in DR Congo - June 2017
Several factors are considered in economic and social development of a country, especially intervention of national government but also support of different bilateral and multilateral partners.
In 2013, Target agency conducted a research related to perception of countries and international organizations operating in Democratic Republic of Congo in 6 main cities of DR Congo (Kinshasa, Matadi, Kisangani, Mbuji-Mayi, Lubumbashi and Goma). And from this research, it resulted that USA and France were perceived as the best partners of DR Congo, mainly in fields of support of democracy, good governance/fight against bribery, justice and human rights as well as gender. In terms of international organizations, despite weak rates of responses from population, the following organizations were considered as the best partners of DR Congo: UNICEF (education), WHO (health), WFP (Food Support) and MONUSCO (support to democracy).
Since four years now, Target wanted to conduct the same research again but this time at the level of 26 administrative centers of provinces of DR Congo by focusing on the one hand on assessment of actions taken by main countries and international organizations based in DR Congo and on the other hand, on determination of best partners in different fields (support to democracy, economy, health…)
Although in the second position after China in general classification, USA is clearly positioned as the best foreign partner of DR Congo with an attendance in the Top 2 on all fields except for good governance and fight against bribery dominated by France and Belgium. China is perceived as a very good partner for development of DR Congo main due to its interventions in infrastructure field while Belgium, as colonial power, enjoys a good image towards Congolese people especially in education field.

The World Bank is positioned in the top of general classification (72%) and in economy field (50%). While United Nations are recording their greatest scores in three fields: support to democracy, gender and good governance respectively with 28%, 25% and 6%. The domination of WHO and UNICEF stay unquestionable in terms of health and education.

Recommendations are provided in publication for helping countries and organizations to improve their image towards Congolese people.
Target conducted this research from November 1st to November 15th, 2016 towards a representative sample of 1000 Congolese people in 26 administrative centers of provinces in line with method of quota per age, gender and place of residence. Interviews have been carried out through Smartphones and statistic interpretation of results was done with significance test at 95% with SPSS software.
