DRC remains a dominated by Christian. A study conducted by Target research in May 2018 reveals that 93% of Congolese are Christian. Only 4% agree they are Muslim and 3% from other beliefs.

The study shows that in terms of church naming, Christian catholic represents 39% while in 2017, it was 36% ; a growth of 3%.

According to the same study, this situation could be related to Catholic Church involvement on political situation in DRC. In fact, Bishop and other church conference raise their voice and call population to public political events so that elections calendar should be maintained, this attracted many Congolese.

Still according to the same study, other evangelic church groups called gospel church or other ones called Pentecotist, Jehovah Witness, Branamists have known a decrease of 7% (23% in 2018 against 30% in 2017), while scores realised by protestants and Muslims remained the same compared to 2017.

Approximately half of people aged 50 years old and more are catholic, and this at the national level; Kivu is dominated by catholic compared to other regions.
