Conference-Debate at UCC (Catholic University of Congo)
TARGET Research & Consulting agency would like to bring training institutions closer to professional world using a framework of permanent exchange of information. It is in that context that it organized a conference-debate at the Catholic University of Congo “UCC” in acronym, on Thursday 15 December 2011 around the topic: “Market Research face to Product Communication”. This activity is considered within the framework of bringing training institutions closer to professional world for better informing students as regards professional world realities in order to build capacity of young people who have recently a degree so that they can effectively meet business market needs, more specifically in line with Marketing.
Face to an audience composed of students attending the last two years for having a degree in Social Communications, the Managing Director of TARGET, Mr. Serge Mumbu, described different types of market researches carried out by Research Agencies (Quantitative researches, qualitative researches and ad-hoc researches) before focusing on the role of students while determining company marketing strategies (strategies regarding product, prices, distribution and communication). For Serge Mumbu, “it is critical to ensure consistency between communication and other marketing-mix variables, such as product, price and distribution. Advantages shown in advertisement of a product should meet the perception of consumers regarding product, the image that they have concerning the product price and its distribution, otherwise the communication will be ineffective”. This meeting is bringing a new thing, at least as regards market research, a market opening specified by the confidentiality of services. For TARGET, “it is important to make a clear difference between on the one hand the confidentiality of activities carried out for the customers thereof and on the other hand, the visibility of Research Officer or Marketing Researcher employment, which has been progressively developed during years in DRC without coming forward”. The Managing Director of TARGET took advantage of this occasion to make students of Social Communication Faculty more aware of advantages to be gained from Surveyor experience while working in research agencies: building ones capacities in human contact, better knowing Kinshasa town, broadening knowledge as regards different topics of researches,…an invitation has even been given to students wishing to collaborate with TARGET so that they may bring their application as surveyor.
This first activity is very critical for TARGET Research & Consulting since it marks the starting of the wide partnership that the company would like to seal with the most important structures of training in Marketing and Communication, in order to create a framework of exchange and consultation between universities on the one hand and professional world on the other hand. This framework of exchange will allow reducing even the slightest bit the gap between theoretical training and professional practice. Apart from TARGET staff, we will work together with other professionals of Marketing in companies and organizations so that students may take advantage of their experience. “Professional world needs competent executives, therefore the necessity of working wisely together with training institutions. The future of Marketing and Market Research in DR Congo, is not only the fact of using training schools in order to run the products delivered in the labor market but also, the supervising during training period by widely facilitating professional practice beyond academic training planned by universities.”
This framework of exchange and confrontation between two realities (theoretical training and professional experience) will also allow labor world directly considering issues that training institutions are experiencing so that those who are to be graduated and sent to labor market may assimilate professional realities in their training as it is seen in other climes, where professional world is accompanying students training in main fields of their activities during each stage of their training, the best trainees can be supervised step by step towards their future professional environment. TARGET boasts to be pioneer in its sector in the Democratic Republic of Congo and is aiming at extending these kinds of activities in other important universities of the Country
