Target Participating in the 68th yearly WIN/GALLUP conference at Dublin

This conference was a purely professional conference not only gathering market researches’ agencies, but several mechanisms as well as organizations operating in various fields that also use in their turn market researches as means for reaching their goals (public organizations, private companies and media organizations…)
Several renowned personalities were invited to speak at the conference, including the Prime Minister of Ireland, Enda Kenny, who delivered a speech on the importance of market research for policy makers, Finn Raben, the CEO of ESOMAR, Jordan Casey, the youngest entrepreneur of Ireland, Shawn L. Bird, the Deputy Director at Office of Opinion Research U.S. Department of State, Jake Steadman Director of Research at Twitter, and the polling manager of the Washington Post, Peyton M. Craighill.
Besides the speeches, many other activities have been planned such as exhibitions (Rosettastudio, Confirmit, Askia, ESOMAR and Dapresy), as well as workshops on the following topics:
- “Accurate sampling in difficult locations” related to main difficulties experienced when conducting a sampling operation within locations whereas there is no accurate data on number of people.
- “Gamification and Market Research” related on how to transform a real market research into a game in order to motivate respondents to participate.
- “Closer to the respondent with mobile research” underling the relevance of mobile within people daily life as well as its importance and impact on a research (the participant can by himself/herself film, take pictures in the framework of market research).
- “Qualitative Research” related to different challenges and adaptations that must be taken into account for qualitative research considering new approaches and technologies proposed in the market.
A brainstorming has also been organized on lessons to be learned from the world research “End of the Year” that consists in interviewing about 1 000 persons on 75 countries of the world on topics of current interests. As in every conferences, a pleasant ceremony was organized for prizes awarding to the best participants as well as a special award for the most active agency of Win/Gallup International organization during the first 12 months considering quality of researches carried out, popularization of Win/Gallup activities in the site and through media, intervention during conferences…
The firm Target from DR Congo is a Member of the WIN/Gallup International Association and was represented at this conference by its General Manager, Serge Mumbu, who notably participated actively in the workshop on sampling in difficult areas like the DRC (lack of recent census data, difficult access in some areas, low penetration of telephone and Internet, etc...). According to Serge Mumbu, the whole conference was a very good opportunity to exchange experiences and discover opportunities offered by new technologies in general and with the mobile telephony in the market research and polling industry.
