A joyful day for Mazzarello kids

On Friday 22nd Sept, Target team visited Mazzarello house. An orphanage where kids who broke up with their families live. This is the second visit Target is doing there after the first one done last still in September, the agency aimed at sharing good moments with these kids living with Catholic sisters.

Located in Sanga Mamba, one of most underdeveloped neighbourhood in Ngaliema, Mazzarello is more than a simple orphanage; it is a warm welcoming house. A house offering to his members, kids separated from their parents, love and care offered by a real family.

The house in charge, Sister Marie Carmen, is rigorous on Mazzarello house’ name. According to her ‘’considering these kids as orphan improves stigmatization’’. Welcoming kids who lost their parents or those who broke up with their parents, Mazzarello tries to offer better lives conditions, similar to living style found into casual families. For example, kids have the opportunities to follow their primary and secondary studies and choose any speciality they wish.

Don Bosco community, owner of the house, also has a school where children can follow their studies normally.

This is the second time that Target team visits Mazzarello house within one year. As the last time, the agency brought goods kids might during this month of school start.

‘’I am an orphan, my father died when was about to start universities studies. I would like to encourage you to keep hoping in life. You have God mercy to be alive and be healthy every day and you can shape your future’’ as mentioned by Serge Mumbu, Target ‘General Manager. He followed his speech by requesting children to keep been obedient to sisters and their instructions, to put God at the centre of their lives, to forgive  each other.

At the end of the visit, Sister Marie Carmen, the in charge of Mazzarello ’house thought the most important is not the gifts brought by Target, but the love and care Target team was able to give to kids.

‘’Kids feel happy, not because you brought gifts, but firstly because they got warm hugs from you, you showed them your love and care, you listened to them’’

The joy could be seen on kid’s face who feel the need of belonging to a family caring for them. According to them, Mazzarello ‘house is not a welcoming centre, but their House.
