Internship at Target Sarl: An opportunity for Congolese youths
Since its beginning, Target Sarl involves youths on part of its activities. Many initiatives I line with this. From interviewer’s recruitment for field work, to organizing training sessions and professional intern welcome. Today we are doing a ‘’Zoom in’’ on the Target internship program. Why and intern program at Target and what is the process?
Created in 2011, Target quickly took social responsibilities in supervising youths in DR Congo where its headquarter is situated. In order to better fulfil this responsibility, Target opens its doors to talented youths wishing growth within survey field.
‘’As explained by Saleh Sikofu, Research Specialist at Target, welcoming intern has two objectives. Firstly contribute in youth training and secondarily, offer a real career options to those selected for the program.
At the end of the internship, youths have knowledge of what market research is.
For this year, three youths are going through internship program at Target. Benjamin Mukini within IT department. He is acquiring knowledge on ‘’Data management’’. He is involved in supervising what has been done by IT consultants, scripting, typing, and data analysis. For him, internship at Target allowed him get acquainted with professional ethics: being on time, knowing the work environment, respecting deadlines, being multi tasks, managing priorities, etc.
Within project department, two interns were welcome. Josée Wangata and Mannon Ntumba. Josée works as analyst; she is oriented on qualitative study while Mannon is on quantitative studies. A part from this difference, Josée is trained on qualitative reporting, focus group moderation, analysis and interpretation of data collected. Mannon on his side is trained as ‘’Field Consultant’; he should coordinate field teams in executing quantitative studies.
To be admitted to Target Intern program, youths fulfilling the following conditions are eligible: motivation letter justifying interest on market research, been among best Target collaborators as per evaluation on projects worked on, brilliantly succeed to evaluation test organised within the department.
