This August 2016, Target is publishing a research on banks at Kinshasa

Target interviewed from 7 to 10 July 2016, a representative sample of Kinshasa people on banks’ perception. DR Congo has got 18 commercial banks, some of them being established in several cities as well as in administrative centers of provinces. Since about 20 years now, these banks provide Congolese people with various services. State servants for instance are all paid through bank channel as well as some of private companies’ employees.

If in other countries the use of bank services is the most normal thing, Banks came back in DR Congo in the frontline after the end of nineties when people completely lost trust to commercial banks. During this same period commercial banks’ activities were almost void of any influence.

It is therefore in a context of full recovery of bank activities, in spite of all current BIAC difficulties (the 3rd bank of the Country) that Target research is having its full meaning. Do respondents own bank accounts? Within which banks? What opinions do they have as regards banks operating in DR Congo? What is the bank perceived as the most credible?

Target research will thus assess the spontaneous and assisted awareness of banks, rate of possessing bank accounts, level of trust that customers are putting in banks, reasons for not owning bank accounts…

This is actually a very timely research for actors of bank field and any other economical operator that closely interact with banks. Results of this research will bas available from 10 August 2016.
