8 March: Target is granting an important position to women in its activities

Since about 5 years of existence (the agency is celebrating its fifth anniversary in October 2016), Target is granting a place of honor to women in all its activities that are being carried out. A quick sight on human resources’ chart is showing that Target is located above the threshold of 30% as regards women representation holding decision – taking positions such as set by UN Organization.

“Planet 50 – 50 by 2030: Let’s cross over the path for gender equality” is the theme for celebrating the International Day of Women’ Rights in 2016. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, 8 March, UN Organization is emphasizing the effective implementation of new sustainable development goals (SD Goals) by 2030, a program replacing Millennium Goals for Development (MGD). SD Goals are also planning stages related to gender equality, women’s empowerment and women’s rights.

Target is already well internalizing these principles. Thus, four quarter of people (75%) positioned within management committee are women. It is about Agnes EKETEBI in charge of missions, Sarah NGONGO and Divine KAWAYA that are respectively in charge of Administration and Business Development.

The department “Project”, one of Target pillar has got four full time employees of which two ladies (50%). Amongst these two ladies, one, Hortense MBUMBA in charge of the said department and the other, Tatiana DJOLI who is Market Research Specialist.

Target consultants’ team (Surveyors, Supervisors, and Field Managers) in DR Congo, at Rwanda, Congo and Burundi are composed of 696 people of which 227 ladies. Target has got in DR Congo 485 consultants for 152 ladies i.e. 31.34%, at Rwanda 59 consultants for 16 ladies i.e. 27.11%, at Congo 58 consultants for 20 ladies i.e. 34.48% and at Burundi 84 consultants for 34 ladies i.e. 40.47%.
